Whom do you represent?
I just got a letter back from Craig Zucker, the MD State Delegate.  I read the letter last night and had decided to write him back to continue the discussion. And then something about how it had been written had struck me as terribly odd and also completely out of line with the job of being a representative of the people.  He writes:  “Over the past few sessions, bills concerning the...

Been a busy couple of months.
Well, it has been a while since I actually updated.  New job for me and for my lady.  Next thing you know we are both sick of the 270 commute. Time for a new house.  We sold our little townhome just two weeks ago. What a crazy experience that was.  I learned that you never take a real estate recommendation from a work colleague. The team was a disaster. They had no idea what they were doing...

Good Lord
There are a lot of people with uninformed opinions who have access to the internet.  I really should just delete my facebook. It’s like a rage inducing machine.  I had just posted this petition about bees and pesticides.  My friend shared it and got his first hater on his page discussing how there is two sides to every story and how people should educate themselves about the issue before...

Transmutation
So, you ever set out on a journey that took something like 10 years? What did you feel when you got there?  What is today? Feb 2nd? Definitely saw sun come out today.  33 now. I got married at 24. It’s a crazy thing. My adoring and terribly talented wife bore me three kids in that time. I sent her back to school because I knew those babies wouldn’t keep. Sure enough they’re...

Service
It has been a frustrating couple of days.  I have been busy. Busier than I’d like to be. We’re doing alright! Wife has a new job, kids are in day care before and afterschool and we’re dealing with the 90+ minute commute down to Virginia. We’re holding together but it isn’t easy. I’m only writing this for framing, as I’m sure I have readers who have their...

Quality Time
Had a neat Father Son moment yesterday. I bought a game on Steam called FTL  and my son and I have been playing it together. Our ship dropped out of hyperspace and we were attacked. I said:  “Oh no kiddo, what do we do???” My Son: “Target their Engines and Shields!!”  He’s seven.  I was proud. #nerds

The right to bear arms.
A friend of mine just posted this statistic compairing US and UK gun homicides to bolster the idea that getting rid of guns is the answer to reducing gun violence. I am here to respectfully disagree with the notion that the reduction of firearms available to the public will somehow immediately make us safer.  First, I want to talk about the absurdity of the notion that inanimate objects are to...

Is it January Yet?  →
I am so annoyed by the “Reason for the Season” posts I’m seeing everywhere.  If you really give a crap about reason for the season, go volunteer at a soup kitchen.  Otherwise your Facebook activism/sentimentality is more than annoying, it’s offensive.  The cynic in me wants to remind everyone who just posted about how much money they saved on Black Friday and Cybermonday...

Fun with maps.
So… Look at this:  Then Look at  this: And then this I am tremendously worried about how our “leaders” are manipulating people.

Damnit.
I’m breaking my promise here people. I’m sorry. But I need to put this somewhere and i’m not going to diatribe simply on my facebook wall.  Last night, I posted about how The American Organization for Marriage robodialed my house at 916 at night ON A SUNDAY to tell me about gays were threatening the American Family. The irony of this call was so shocking to me that I posted the...
