I’m breaking my promise here people. I’m sorry. But I need to put this somewhere and i’m not going to diatribe simply on my facebook wall.
Last night, I posted about how The American Organization for Marriage robodialed my house at 916 at night ON A SUNDAY to tell me about gays were threatening the American Family. The irony of this call was so shocking to me that I posted the status indicating who I was going to vote for and that I was going to vote for any candidate that defended the rights of our citizen regardless of sexual orientation.
SO then I got this post from a Friend in a PM:
Friend: Why do u think gay couples want to call their relationships marriage? Instead of a civil union?
———- Are you friggen kidding me? My responses are below:
What do you think a marriage is? Do you think your beliefs give you the right to deny other people the right to healthcare or insurance or survivors benefits or human decency?
Is your relationship with your wife threatened somehow by the divorces that are granted to straight ppeople? Adultery by straights?
Gay marriage isn’t about god. It is about giving our fellow citizens equal rights and access to the same services already available to others regardless of our own personal beliefs. That is what America is. They used to say blacks and whites shouldn’t marry. Beliefs are not a justifiable way to govern.

Guys, honestly, if your major hang-ups about voting for Obama or any other candidate has to do with Gay rights you need to really (and I mean REALLY) consider where you priorities are in life. There are so many other definable reasons to determine a candidate’s worth and values and what kind of a job they’ll do when elected than whether or not they want to provide equal healthcare coverage to non-traditional lifestyles. Don’t be on the wrong side of history. And don’t quote the Bible to me. I’m an ex catholic. I’ve read it cover to cover. And if Jesus really existed? He’d be ashamed of you for denying anyone love or kindess for any reason whatsoever. /Rant.

Crazy algae on the C&O canal in Dickerson MD.
My boy and I did at 17.2 mile bike ride along the C&O canal today. He is just about to turn 7 years old. He toughed it out the whole way on a single speed. I’m so proud of him.
There are many snakes on that path. We were talking about the chances of running over a snake, and I had at first discounted the chances until he ran over a 2-3 foot long black snake while I was talking. He saw a copper head along the trail later that day and another black snake. so crazy!
