200 miles this year.

So, I don’t link my fitocracy anymore, because it’s ridiculous. BUT. But. I just got this achievement in the alternative fitness game: 
Run 200 miles (322 km) in your lifetime

I started  running again in earnest back in March or April. I have run 200 miles since then. I cannot help but feel accomplished.

Sep 1

I ran my 5K for the American Cancer Society today. Official time: 25:45; 8.3 min/mile.

My personal fundraising goal was exceeded thanks to some very generous people, and my team’s goal was also exceeded.

For me, this was about a journey I started last October. I was way overweight, I was not healthy and I looked it.

Today, I ran my first official 5k with an 8.3 min/mile pace. I can’t wait to see how well I run the next one.

Good luck to everyone with Fitness goals. I can tell you now that anyone can achieve their goals. It’s not as bad as you think and the rewards outweigh the effort by leaps and bounds.

I was checked for body fat % with this machine today. It had two modes. 

Normal Measurement: 18.1%

Athlete Measurement: 15.3%

To determine which one, there is an equation that is based on intensity of exercises and frequency. 

Running 5 times a week for 30 minutes.

FIT Index= Frequency x  Intensity x Time

75              =      5          x       5        x     3

FIT Index > 60, ATHLETE mode

I typically run 3-5 times a week, hit two spin classes and lift weights for an hour every other day. 

I’m probably more in the athlete mode side of things. 

So, 15% body fat. Check again in six months.
